Chale Car Boot
has plenty of free parking and refreshments available and the amount of sellers is quite good. The views are incredible so pack your picnic blanket and grab a coffee from one of the drinks vendors there and marvel at the view across to St Catherine’s Oratory and beyond. We arrived at 10.30am and there was still plenty of bargains to be had, the ground was dry underfoot but we’d recommend checking the weather forecast before you head off as it is positioning on quite an exposed part of the island. Team your visit to the car boot with a stroll from Ventnor Botanic Gardens along to Steephill Cove – a perfect Sunday out!
Sandown, Fort Street.
This is a relatively small car boot, but well worth a walk to on a spring or summers day, head along before it gets too warm, then you can continue your walk back along the seafront for a spot of lunch! Parking is available in the same car park that the car boot is held, this is paid, if you want free parking head a few roads in from the seafront and make your way down to Fort Street. The is public convenience’s and a child’s play area to visit after you’ve been bargain hunting.
Colwell Green
This is a small car boot but worth a visit nonetheless! Situated on the Green, parking is free and a small admission/donation requested for entry. Start your day at the car boot then head along the seafront to Totland bay for a late brunch, walking or driving back up to Freshwater or Alum bay if the weather permits for a walk through the village. Or head down to Colwell Bay to visit the beach and enjoy an ice cream.
Calbourne Car Boot.
So, we want to let you into a little secret, Calbourne car boot is our favourite car boot on the island for so many reasons. The car boot is generally quite large and we have picked up many a bargain over the years, parking is free and entry is by voluntary donation (£1). But, the best bit is that this is an afternoon car boot, and if you arrive early you can grab yourself a delicious homemade cream tea from the village hall on the green. Plus, once you’ve walked around the car boot, you are minutes from the famous Winkle Street, with the pretty stream running down by the side of the road (Head to village hall then turn right on main road, then right again). Calbourne can be tricky to get to by foot but main bus route runs by and there is plenty of free parking.
Due to the nature of the organisation of the Isle of Wight car boots, times and venue may change at late notice due to circumstances or weather, please do check online before travelling.
