Day 1: Scenic viewpoints, historic monuments and a Picnic, plenty of paths and trails for children, walkers and dogs to enjoy.

Morning:

Start your day by taking a walk from Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park to Bembridge and Culver Down. (It can get steep so may not be suitable for little legs) Follow the footpath leading from the park’s back exit towards the beach and turn right: you will see the monument on the hill, which will take you up onto the downs.

Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding coastline.

There is plenty to see on the top, from the old battery fortifications to the stunning views back across Whitecliff Bay and beyond into the Solent.

Bembridge fort may also be open (at restricted times for tours). From here, you can follow the coastal footpath towards Sandown or Shanklin, depending on your preference.

Take a picnic, you can spend as much time as you like to enjoy the wonderful views all around you.  Children love running through the chalk paths on the hills.

Afternoon:

Head back to Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park for lunch and some relaxation time. Take advantage of the holiday park’s amenities, such as the swimming pool or on-site restaurant.

Day 2:

A gentle walk to rock pooling, crystal clear waters to paddle in and find crabs (and an exhilirating RNLI lifeboat launch if your lucky)!

Morning:

Start your day by taking a walk to the nearby Bembridge Ledges. Follow the level footpath leading from the park’s exit nearest the beach (turn a sharp left and do not head down to the beach – the footpath is marked), this will take you along the coastline through a pretty winding path with some amazing views of the bay.

Located at the most Eastern point of the Isle of Wight, Bembridge Ledge is a real hidden gem with a fascinating history. Over the centuries, the Bembridge area was an important source of building stone. The Bembridge Limestone layer (Bembridge Ledge) emerges in a visible outcrop that stretches from St. Helen’s round to Whitecliff Bay in large ledges of rock, which once provided a source of accessible building stone.

Bembridge Ledge is mainly made up of this rock and at low tide there are wonderful rock pools and sandy areas suitable for paddling. You can spend hours just wandering along the ledge spotting prawns and small fish swimming between your toes.  (Don’t forget to pack beach shoes).

You can also walk along the RNLI launch to the launching platform and keep an eye out for open days and launch times, it is well worth watching the lifeboat zoom down the ramp and splash into the water.

Afternoon:

Head back to Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park for late lunch and some relaxation time.  You can catch the bus back from Land End (By the RNLI building) and get ready to take advantage of the holiday park’s amenities, such as the pool, beach or entertainment areas.

The Pier at Sandown is a great place to visit with children in the evening.

Day 4:

Morning: Start your day by taking the number 8 bus from Whitecliff Bay to Brading Station. From there, it’s a short walk to Brading Roman Villa (postcode: PO36 0EN), where you can explore the remains of the villa and see the intricate mosaics that have been uncovered on the site.  It is well worth the visit and is a fascinating example of local Roman history. (There is also an EV charge point available)

Walk back into Brading and explore St Mary’s church and the local pubs and restaurants, you will be able to find something to suit everyone’s needs.  Check out The Hungry Bear for some great food.

Late Afternoon: Take the bus back to Whitecliff Bay and enjoy some time at the holiday park’s amenities or take a stroll along the beach.

Evening:

Head out for dinner at Ryde, a bustling seaside town with plenty of dining options. Take the number 8 bus from Whitecliff Bay to Ryde Esplanade (bus stop code: RYE002) and explore the town centre before enjoying dinner at one of the local restaurants, such as ADA Mediterranean Restaurant for Tapas or Weatherspoon’s if you are looking for good value food for the family. Take the bus back to Whitecliff Bay to end your day.
