Robin Hill is an adventure park that offers a range of activities and attractions for visitors of all ages. It has a range of rides, including a toboggan run, sky nets, large playgrounds and a falconry display. There are also walking trails through the park’s woodland, which has beautiful views of the island, and a playground for children. It is a great day out, take a picnic and spend time exploring the park whilst enjoying the fresh air.
On the other hand, Blackgang Chine is an amusement park that is known for its historical and fantasy-themed attractions. The park features a range of rides, including roller coasters and water slides, but also has unique experiences like a pirate ship, a fairy garden, and a dinosaur exhibit. You can see over the years how the park has slowley slipped downthe cliff edge and the every changing landscape makes it fascinating to return to if you haven’t been since you were a child.
Blackgang Chine also offers daily performances and shows, which are popular with families. Plus evening fireworks during the summer. It is a magical place for young children and probably forms the childhood memories for many children and parents alike.
Travelling with children under 10
If you are travelling with children under 10 and trying to decide which attraction is best for you and your children, there are a few factors to consider:
- Age-appropriate activities: Look for attractions that have activities suitable for younger children. Some attractions may have height or age restrictions for certain rides or activities, so check the attractions’ websites for details. The roller coaster and water slides at Blackgang chine may have height restrictions, so may the tobaggan run and sky nets at Robin Hill.
- Theme and interests: Consider your children’s interests and choose attractions that align with their interests. For example, if your children love dinosaurs or fairytales, they may enjoy Blackgang Chine’s, while if they love nature and wildlife, they may prefer Robin Hill’s falconry display and walking trails.
- Reviews and recommendations: Read online reviews and recommendations from other families with children under 10 years old. This can give you an idea of what to expect and help you make an informed decision.
Travelling with older children
Both parks are suitable for children under 16, but you may find more age appropiate activities at Robin Hill for older children.
Taking a dog to Blackgang Chine or Robin Hill
At both Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine, dogs are allowed at both attractions but are required to be kept on a lead at all times.
At Robin Hill, dogs are welcome in most areas of the park, including the woodland walks and adventure playground. At Blackgang Chine, dogs are allowed in most areas of the park, but there are some restrictions around the ride areas.
It’s important to note that while dogs are allowed at both attractions, they may not be suitable for all areas, particularly those with a lot of people or attractions with loud noises that may scare them, the parks do get very busy during high season.
Parking with Campervans and larger vehicles
At Robin Hill, there is a large car park that can accommodate camper vans and motorhomes. There are no additional charges for parking, and the car park is located close to the entrance of the park.
At Blackgang Chine, there is a designated car park for camper vans and motorhomes, which is located near the entrance of the park. There is a daily parking fee for vehicles, and overnight parking is not allowed.
It’s important to note that both attractions have limited parking, especially during peak season, so it’s a good idea to arrive early to ensure you can find a spot for your camper van. Additionally, it’s always a good idea to check the latest information on the attractions’ websites or contact them directly to confirm their current policies and parking availability.
