Embracing the great outdoors despite the rain

While the Isle of Wight is known for its stunning beaches and picturesque landscapes, don’t let a little rain stop you from exploring the great outdoors. In fact, some of the island’s most enchanting sights can be experienced in the rain.

One such place is Alum Bay, a famous beach near the Needles landmark located on the western tip of the island. These towering chalk stacks rise dramatically from the sea in the distance, creating a breathtaking sight that is even more dramatic in stormy weather. Put on your raincoat and take a stroll from the Needles Pleasure Park (parking charges apply) then down the steep steps or path onto Alum Bay beach, revelling in the power of nature as waves crash against the stony beach. Just be sure to keep a safe distance from the cliffs where the famous coloured sands are and take extra care on wet and slippery surfaces.
